Sea Legs is a body of collage work produced over the last year. Recent uncertain political worlds have been hard for all of us to navigate - the natural world is experiencing that same topsy-turvy craziness. Coming out of Covid times, I began working with commercial stickers in a collage format, which is quite a diversion from my usual computer-generated or hand-painted work. The stickers were a kinda of liberation for me, but I didn't like the white lines around the figures, so I removed them. Then I grew to love those white lines and saw them as ghost spirits of beings being tossed around. As I composed these pieces in this ongoing series, I noticed that the flora, fauna, and mycroflora were twisting and turning around the compositions - they were being swept up in the rising seas and, therefore, unable to find their bearings or sea legs.
