Instant Relics - Ceramics

My ceramic work is derived from my digital collage process. I create simple slabs, adorn them with patterns impressed into the clay and painted on the surface. I assemble and then reassemble. I work with resist and slips to create a pixelated color surface. Working with my hands is a lovely antidote to sitting in front of a computer all day!

The ceramics are low fire white clay painted with colored slip washes. The texture of the natural clay comes through with only minimal spraying of glaze on the surface.

Over the past decade I have produced large ceramic & glass murals for Baltimore Washington International Airport commissioned by the Maryland Department of Transportation and a glass mural installed in the Western MD Health System lobby in Cumberland.
